1.1 This Standard establishes methods for measuring the energy consumed in defined use cases for various types of externally powered architectural hardware.
1.2 Examples of externally powered architectural hardware include mortise locks, bored locks, preassembled locks, auxiliary locks, interconnected locks, exit devices, exit locks, cylinders, input devices, multipoint locks, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and cabinet locks.
1.3 This Standard applies specifically to an energy rating and does not imply compliance with additional applicable ANSI/BHMA A156 Series performance Standards.
1.4 Tests described in this Standard are performed under laboratory conditions. In actual usage, results vary because of installation, maintenance, and environmental conditions.
1.6 Excluded products: Power Operated Doors and products that exceed 300W continuous power.
