WITHDRAWN

Materials, dimensions, and tests for chain slings with higher tensile strength than BS 781 are specified. Sizes of short link chain range from ¼ in to 1½ in.

Various sling types include:

  • Single, two-leg, three-leg, four-leg slings
  • Reevable and non-reevable collar slings
  • Components related to these slings

Notes on design provide simple formulae for calculating proof loads for rings, links, and other intermediate components.

Details of the testing machine, proof testing procedures, proof loads, and a form of certificate of test and examination are included.

Recommendations cover:

  • Safe working loads
  • Use, care, and maintenance of chain and chain slings
  • Safe working loads for alternative rings
