Ferrous and non ferrous bourdon tubing

PUBLISH DATE 1978
PAGES 8
BSI BS 3127:1979

This British Standard applies to ferrous and non-ferrous tubing supplied in straight lengths in a suitable condition for the fabrication of the pressure-responsive components of gauges and instruments operating on the Bourdon principle.

Detailed chemical compositions are specified and a series of sections, with appropriate tolerances, is specified for “oval” tubing.

The types of tubing specified are as follows:

  • Non-ferrous
    • Beryllium copper (Section 2)
    • Brass (Section 3)
    • Phosphor bronze (Section 4)
  • Ferrous
    • Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel (Section 5)
    • Stainless steel (Section 6)
    • Iron-nickel-chromium-titanium (precipitation hardening) alloy (Section 7)

Chemical compositions of beryllium copper, brass, phosphor bronze (non-ferrous) and chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, stainless steel, iron-nickel-chromium-titanium (precipitation hardening) alloy (ferrous) tubing materials.

Dimensions and tolerances of sections of oval tubing.
