This British Standard describes a method for specifying requirements for electrodeposited coatings of silver and its alloys on metallic and non-metallic materials for decorative and/or protective purposes.

This standard is not applicable to:

  • coatings on screw threads;
  • coatings applied on sheet or strip in the unfabricated form;
  • coatings containing less than 95 % by mass of pure silver; or
  • coatings of minimum thickness less than 2 µm.

Electrodeposited coatings on metallic and non-metallic materials for general and protective purposes.

Excludes coatings containing less than 95% pure silver by mass or of minimum thickness less than 2 μm, and those on screw threads or unfabricated sheet or strip.
