Specification for general requirements for rotating electrical machines -- General characteristics
Starting characteristics of cage induction motors: These motors exhibit distinct starting torque and current behavior due to the squirrel cage rotor design, which impacts their performance during startup.
Momentary overloads: Cage induction motors can handle short periods of overload without damage, but the extent and duration of these overloads must be carefully managed to prevent overheating and insulation failure.
Overspeeds: Operating beyond rated speed can occur under certain conditions; however, cage induction motors are generally designed to withstand brief overspeed intervals without mechanical or thermal issues.
Commutation: Unlike commutator motors, cage induction motors do not have brushes or commutators, which eliminates commutation-related problems and reduces maintenance requirements.
