Quantitative micrographic methods to determine the percentage content of non-metallic inclusions in cast steel

PUBLISH DATE 1998
PAGES 8
BSI BS 7926:1998

This British Standard specifies two micrographic methods for determining the non-metallic inclusion content of cast steels. Numerical values of the area fraction of non-metallic inclusions present in samples of cast steels is specified.

The percentage content ranges of non-metallic inclusions are specified for four melting and refining methods in use in steel foundries throughout the UK.

In addition to the definitive requirements, this standard also requires the items detailed in clause 4 to be documented. For compliance with this standard, both the definitive requirements and the documented items have to be satisfied.
